Buxton, a picturesque town nestled in the heart of the Peak District, boasts a rich and captivating history that is intertwined with the Pavilion Gardens. The town’s history can be traced back to the Roman era, when the natural thermal springs were discovered and utilized for their therapeutic properties. The Pavilion Gardens, a stunning 23-acre public park, were commissioned by the 7th Duke of Devonshire. About Buxton
The Pavilion Gardens in Buxton were created between 1869 and 1871, designed by the apprentice of renowned garden designer Joseph Paxton, Edward Milner. Joseph Paxton is the designer of London’s ‘Crystal Palace’.
There are a number of fine buildings such as the Crescent and Buxton Opera House to admire, as well as the panoramic hilltop vista of Solomon’s Temple which provides views of the landscape and peaks such as Mam Tor.
